Batman vs Superman composer, Hans Zimmer, has announced that he will no longer be involved with superhero movies. This effectively means the composer won’t be back for Justice League Part 1 next year.
Zimmer announced his retirement in the “superhero business” during an interview with the BBC. Zimmer said it was hard to find a “new language” in the genre since he already covered many other superheroes in the past.
Batman vs Superman proved to be a bigger challenge for him as he already scored Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight trilogy. He found it difficult to re-introduce Batman with a new sound which is why he asked his friend Junkie XL to work on the movie with him.
Zimmer disagrees that the superhero movie genre is going away anytime soon. He denies that he will score another superhero movie “just for the money”. He noted that he has to be inspired before he can tackle a movie he’s about to score for.
Zimmer’s past superhero movies include: Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises, Man of Steel, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. It’s safe to say that Junkie XL might be taking over to score the future DC movies from now on.
