Hot on the heels of Punch-Out!!’s Little Mac, the gun-slinging Diddy Kong has been revealed as the latest addition to the Super Smash Bros. 4 roster.
The announcement coincides with the North American release of Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, a side-scrolling platform game developed by Retro Studios and published by Nintendo for the Wii U.
“We’ve increased Diddy Kong’s flexibility this time,” said game director Masahiro Sakurai in a comment alongside the announcement.
DK’s chimp companion first appeared in Super Smash Bros. Brawl for the Wii, where he wreaked havoc with his peanut popgun, barrel jet pack, and chimpanzee-like fighting style.
Super Smash Bros. 4 is set to release for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U by the end of 2014.
