The summer season has meant lower videogame sales in the United Kingdom so far, which is why despite recent releases like ARMS, Tekken 7, or Dirt 4, it’s Rockstar’s mega-hit GTA V the one taking the top spot in this week’s best sellers list. The game actually had lower sales than last week, but it seems like it benefited from dropping less than other titles. Overall, there were 171.389 retail games sold through the week.
There were three new releases which made it into the top 40, although none of them were part of the ten best-selling titles. The highest new entry is Dead By Deadlight for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Final Fantasy XIV’s new expansion Stormblood for PS4 and PC enters at number 23, while Ever Oasis for Nintendo 3DS was only able to reach number 28.
As for previous releases in the top 10, last week’s chart topper Horizon: Zero Dawn fell to number 8 once it returned to its premium price, Codemaster’s Dirt 4 rose two positions to number 2, proving some staying power for a game that had a disappointing first week of sales. Nintendo Switch new exclusive ARMS fell to number 7. A better availability of the hybrid console allowed Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild to jump 45% and 68% respectively, proving to be the favourite games by the fanbase to buy along the console.
