Capcom’s Monster Hunter: World revalidates its position as the first big success of 2018, hanging on to the number 1 on the United Kingdom sales charts for a second week in a row. If the sales numbers on its debut were impressive, the holdover in this second week is also remarkable: A mere 46% drop for a big production that strongly suggests a growing momentum for the game, helped by a good word of mouth and excellent reviews. In order to add some perspective to the situation, consider that last week’s new entry at number 2, Dragon Ball FighterZ, has dropped to number 6 this week.
The first relevant debut is EA Sports UFC 3 at number 2. We gave the game a positive review, saying “UFC 3 very well may be EA’s best release in the series, but it’s only by a small margin that they’ve improved on their previous effort.”
That is not the only entry in the top 10, as Dissidia: Final Fantasy NT debuts at number 9. The title is a 3v3 fighting game which pits iconic heroes and villains from the Final Fantasy series (including main entries and certain spin offs) against each other, and this new entry exclusive for PS4 introduces a greater focus on online battles. The game charts one place higher than the previous game in the series, Dissidia: Final Fantasy Duodecim for PSP.
