New Tracks for Rocksmith Revealed

Most people would agree that the music video game genre is often times an annoying one. Some developers have noticed the cash that can be made from kids wanting to “play” along with their favorite songs while the rest of us are victim to the incessant loop of over-played Aerosmith songs. Though we generally would hate on another formulaic music game, Ubisoft’s upcoming Rocksmith has a very intriguing premise: the ability to play with a real guitar.

The developer just announced more tracks that are to accompany the game at launch:

• Best Coast – When I’m With You
• Blur – Song 2
• The Black Keys – Next Girl
• The Boxer Rebellion – Step Out Of The Car
• Cream – Sunshine Of Your Love
• The Cribs – We Share The Same Skies
• The Cure – Boys Don’t Cry
• Jenny O – Well OK Honey
• Lynyrd Skynyrd – Sweet Home Alabama
• Nirvana – Breed
• Pixies – Where Is My Mind?
• Radiohead – High and Dry
• Red Fang – Number Thirteen
• The Rolling Stones – The Spider and the Fly
• Silversun Pickups – Panic Switch
• Soundgarden – Outshined
• Spoon – Me and The Bean
• Stone Temple Pilots – Vasoline
• Taddy Porter – Mean b*tch
• Titus Andronicus – A More Perfect Union
• White Denim – Burnished
• The White Stripes – Icky Thump
• Yellow Moon Band – Chimney

Additionally, the game will feature these previously announced songs:

• The Animals – House of the Rising Sun
• The Black Keys – I Got Mine
• David Bowie – Rebel Rebel
• Interpol – Slow Hands
• Nirvana – In Bloom
• The Rolling Stones – (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction

Rocksmith‘s concept is a very interesting one, and if you’re going to go through the annoyance of having ten year-old kids thinking they’re Jimi Hendrix in reincarnated form simply because they can play “Voodoo Child” on Expert, well then I suppose it’s a little better if they’re doing it with a real guitar.

Rocksmith will release this September for a reported $80.
