Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice – What to do with the Kite and how to Stop it

Sekiro-Shadows-Die-Twice-What-to-do-with-the-Kite-and-how-to-Stop-it

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is a game chock full of mysterious items, quests, and rewards. It seems like every time you turn around you run into something that makes you go “huh, what do I do with that?” This is especially the case in Senpou Temple, where a kite flies below the first Sculptor’s Idol. You can fly the kite, raising it into the air, which seems to indicate that there’s some important use for it. There is, but you need to know how to do it. Here’s what to do with the kite and how to stop it in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

For this to work, you actually need to be pretty far into the game. If you haven’t beaten Genichiro then just turn back now, cause everything from here on is spoiler territory. Once you’ve accomplished that particularly tough feat, come back and keep reading, cause the kite is important and the reward is awesome.

Once you’ve defeated Genichiro your next big mission is to retrieve the Mortal Blade. Again, you need to have finished this to know how to stop the kite in Sekiro. Once you get the Mortal Blade you’ll earn a new Ninjitsu move that allows you to turn recently killed foes into your puppet for a time. This is the key to what to do with the kite in Senpou Temple. Once you have it, equip it as your chosen Ninjitsu move and head to Senpou and back to the kite, found at the first Sculptor’s Idol, below and to the right of the temple.

Sneak up behind the “rat” as some call it and deliver a stealth deathblow, then hit R1/RB again to trigger the pupper Ninjitsu move. This will turn him into your puppet, but no need to act. He will immediately rush to the kite and turn the handle for you. This is a permanent alteration to the map, so no worries if you aren’t sure what to do next or end up dying. Now just head up the Senpou Temple mountain until you get to the temple where three monks sit in front of an undead creature. Head outside and get as high as you can, climbing the nearby building and then the large tree off to the right.

At the top you will see the kite flying over the canyon. Jump toward it and grapple to be flung to the other side. And that’s what to do with the kite and how to stop it in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. What do you get for all this effort? Just a chance to kill the Giant Snake and a very important endgame item.
